Hello! Spencer and I have been very busy since we last posted. After leaving Nelson, we had a very nice time at the Ainsworth Hot Springs. There were two hot pools and one of them was the cave where the water came in. I thought that was pretty rad. We went on that day because it started to rain-- which is apparently going to be a regular part of this vacation. We camped the next night in a park near a lake. We found the "overflow" camping area, so instead of a gravelled pad we got to just put our tent on the grass. The next day we continued on to the national parks, more rainy driving. We found our way up the Yoho Valley to a large waterfall called Takakkaw Falls, and we found a tents-only campsite there. We were lucky enough to get a site right on the edge with a waterfall view. That was awesome! We had a short hike in the evening but it rained some more after that. The next day we packed up our wet tent and headed into Banff park. We first went to Lake Louise, arriving in the morning before most of the crowds, luckily. It was beautiful, but there was much more to come! Banff park is full of amazing peaks with big glaciers! Our drive on the Icefield Parkway was way cool. We had a great time stopping to see the vistas, and the weather for the weekend was not rainy, which was good. We made a point of doing this drive on the forecasted non-rainy days so we would have clear views. We had another short hike along to see a slot canyon that the river went through. At the end of the day we saw the glaciers at the Columbia Icefield and were able to walk up to the toe of one, which was amazing. I've never been so close to a glacier before. We found another tents-only campground, this one with with a view of a glacier! There was some rain during the night, but in the morning it was dry and partly sunny again. We checked out a waterfall, then drove back the way we came. We stopped to have another short hike near a lake, which was very scenic. Then we went to Banff to find some internet. That town is crazy! It's like one big mall and we didn't like it all that much. We got ourselves a hotel room in Lake Louise for the night, and enjoyed showering and watching tv. We did NOT enjoy the USA loss to Japan in the ladies world cup. They could have won twice!! Then we saw a thunderstorm from our room and that was cool. Anyhow, internet now to find the next place to go. We want to find somewhere to hang out for a couple of days and relax. Also, it's supposed to rain some more for the next few days, so that might be good timing. We are enjoying our trip very much. We trust you are all well too!
