Spencer and I went for a drive to the peninsula yesterday, to go out in the country. We took the Edmonds-Kingston ferry over. That ferry has significance for me: the last time I took that ferry going west, as we did yesterday morning, I was knitting on my very first scarf ever. Also, the last time I was on that ferry going east, was in the blizzard when I had salmonella. So, we waited in line there, and then when it was time to go onto the ferry, there was a car in the lane way ahead of us whose driver was late getting back to the car, and we all had to drive around him. He was just getting in the car as we drove past. He ended up on the ferry in the lane next to ours, and we commented that we were glad to not be behind him! The ferry ride is about 15-20 minutes long, so we just sat in the car because we were parked on the outside lane and could see out. We arrived at the other side and it was just about time to go, and the cars started to go, and that SAME guy was late coming to his car again! 20 minutes after the first time! His girlfriend was at the car, and was embarrassed and angry as she stood there next to the car as the people behind had to just wait for him to show up. We felt bad for her. That was our morning entertainment.

It was nice to drive around in the country, and the weather was nice for it too. We got to see the Olympics a little. They were snowy and very craggy. We toured the town of Port Townsend, which we thought was a cool place. The downtown was quaint. We checked out a yarn shop there that was a little weird though, because they just about carried only one brand of yarn, which is unusual. After returning to Seattle, we tried out a restaurant here that we'd heard of, the Santa Fe Cafe. They claimed to have real New Mexican food, so we thought we'd go see, because we enjoyed the cuisine in Santa Fe (it really is different than standard Mexican). We had one dish that was good and one that was ok. We thought that if we want New Mexican again, we'd go back there.
