Yesterday I drove from Hood River back to Petaluma, which was 11 hours. I drove down the east side of the Cascades, which I've never done before. There are lots of pine trees along that drive south of Bend, and Klamath Lake was really pretty. I wanted to take a picture of the lake, but there was a big construction zone and nowhere to pull over.
As you may know, the Cascades has lots of volcanoes! Above is Mt. Shasta from the northeast side on highway 97. Here is a list of all the volcanoes that I saw in the entirety of my trip, that I can identify on sight. According to the wikipedia article, there are a bunch more in central and southern Oregon that I probably passed, but I can't identify them right now.*Rainier
*St. Helens
*Adams
*Hood
*Olallie Butte
*Jefferson
*Three-fingered Jack
*Washington
*Black Butte
*Three Sisters (=3 volcanoes!)
*Bachelor
*Thielssen
*McLoughlin
*Shasta
*Black Butte (another one)
*Lassen
At least 18 volcanoes in one trip! That's awesome. I also saw some lava flow near the Newberry volcano (one of the ones that I can't identify but apparently it's more of a low caldera), which was cool. Some day hopefully I'll be over there with some time to look around. Yesterday I just had to drive.
It's good to be back in the Petaluma house. I love this house so much and I realize I'm really sad to have to leave it. It's so cozy. I guess I'll have to see what I can do to try to make the Seattle house feel cozy too. I'm sure it will help when we get all the furniture and stuff moved in there.

I remember some of that trip. Aaron enjoyed telling me exactly what peaks were which... I had a hard time figuring out from the map - I just knew there were a lot!
