So, the weather here has gone wintery again. It's rainy and grey, and the forecast shows five rainy cloud symbols, unfortunately. It isn't especially cold out, but I sure could use some summer. I look forward to the DMB Gorge weekend, when Melinda and I, with Chris and Mary, will be lounging around all day long in the warm Eastern Washington weather. That will be super great.
The other day Spencer and I were walking Max, and I found a penny. I picked it up-- free money! And then there was another one! But as we took a few more steps and came upon an intersection, we found that someone had spilled about 300 pennies in the road! We couldn't figure out what had happened, and there were no coins larger than a penny there. I saw one penny that was american, though. Anyhow, I tossed the two that I had picked up back on the ground with the rest.
In other news, we did boat maintenance the other day. We took the motor off of our boat (it bonked me in the knee and now I have a bruise), then pulled the boat up onto the dock and flipped it upside down. We scraped off the barnacles and mussels that had grown on the bottom. This was a big year for mussels, and we practically had a whole intertidal zone growing on there! Then Spencer painted a liquid rubber on the bottom to reinforce it (it's an inflatable boat, so we need it to be airtight!). Then we gave it a new cleaning, put it back in the water, put the motor back on, and it's as good as new! Or at least, it has less crap on the bottom now.
Spencer is out working in the field today, and I'm doing other projects. This morning I worked on my manuscript, and this afternoon I'm going to measure littorines.
I have to have some lunch now, so I'll talk to you all later! Hope you're good!
