Hiking to Keeha Beach

Hello! I thought that before I started work today I should tell you a little about our day yesterday. Since our friend Stacie is in town (she worked with Spencer in New Zealand), we (me, Spencer, Stacie, Katie, Chris, and Max Power) decided to hike out to Keeha Beach. Keeha is the only large beach around here that is really exposed to the open ocean. I had never been before. The hike was just under two hours each direction, and the trail was very muddy. It was definitely a rubber boots sort of occasion. While we were out we saw some frogs, and some cool-looking plants, but we didn't see any bears. The photo of us here is in a hollowed out tree: me, Spencer, Stacie, Katie, and Chris (Max not shown). The best part about this photo is that Chris expertly tied the camera to a couple of sticks and balanced it just right, then set the timer to take the picture.

The beach was so awesome! It's one of the coolest beaches I've ever been on (and I've been on a lot of beaches you know!). We had lunch there, and Spencer and I walked down to one end. After we returned from the hike, we had dinner at the pub. You didn't know we could do that, huh? Well, the pub is normally closed, but it opened last week. In the past years they have opened for the summer, but last summer they were only open a couple of weeks. Anyhow, they're open now, and we got veggie burgers when we returned, which was really great. Today we have achy joints and muscles, but I'm glad to have gotten out for a hike, which I haven't done in a while. And this morning I posted some photos in my gallery. I should have some more too when I get copies from the others who took pictures.

So that's how it went. We have a trip planned for late next week out to eastern BC, to Grand Forks, where Roly and Christine live. But since we are leaving then, we have to work all weekend, so that's what I'll be doing for the next few days. It's a long weekend, yes, but I thought the long weekend was the next one! Shows what I know. So that's what's going on... Hope you all are well!
