Hello! It's nice to talk to you again. I know I haven't written anything all week, but in truth, there has not been much to report. Things picked up last night when Spencer and I went to a party at the marine station. It was the end-of-term party for the students and a dinner was made in the kitchen for everyone. It was very nice to not have to cook dinner. Though we often eat elsewhere, it's usually potluck-style because no one can feed a whole load of people. So it was really great that we didn't have to cook anything yesterday. The dinner was fun, and we had some wine and laughed at the students' slideshow. Even though we didn't get the inside jokes of their class, it was still entertaining to see photos of them being silly and it was easy to appreciate that they had a fun and valuable semester out here at the marine station.
Today Spencer and I hung around the house. I went out with Max this morning, and then Spencer and I vacuumed, which means that it's really nice now to have clean carpets and fewer spiderwebs. We have very productive spiders in our house and their webs need sucking up every so often. Then I made some ice cream to take over to some friends' house this afternoon, because we went to use their sauna. The sauna is SOOO nice. It smells awesome like cedar and after you sweat yourself out it makes you feel very clean. Cleaner than any shower has ever made me feel. It's just great. Just after we arrived there, one of the guys came home with his new puppy! It was very cute, of course. It's fluffy and black (looks like a baby bear), and Max didn't really like it (as expected). It ran all around and is at that age where they stumble a lot and entertain everyone. It later fell asleep in someone's lap, upside down, and was very adorable!
When we came home we found a huge-ass ship parked at the coast guard station. BIG. It's so big that it's lights are shining into our house right now. You can check it out here and here. It's really really big. We hope it's still there in the morning so we can go check it out....
I'm still feeding the kitties (see photo above). I like hanging out with them every day in the morning. Max likes it too-- he demonstrates very good predator restraint. He stands there and shakes with excitement at them (sometimes rattling his collars together, which I think is funny). In the photo above, all 16 kitties are there, though one of them is kinda hidden behind another.
Well, that's what's been going on with me. Ihope you all are well, and I'll write again soon. Cheers.

That is a lot of kitties! Grampa Al would say . . . "Holy Catz!"
You not only have the word of the day, you have the phrase of the day. Very nice!!
