Yesterday we went down to see the Petroglyph National Monument, just outside of Albuquerque. The rock drawings are super cool, though we didn't think too much of the park itself. It's good that they designated the area and intend to protect it, for sure, but besides the establishment of the area, they just built a nice-looking visitor's center (really just a place to buy souvenirs) and a couple of short trails. The trail we visited was pretty crappy, too (the trail itself). It had the bare minimum construction and designation, which means that people walk wherever they want, which is ultimately not good. Maybe in the future they will put some more thought and work into it.But seeing the drawings was super awesome. Although I criticize the condition of the trail, the lack of effort put in there also meant there weren't signs everywhere pointing things out, which made it fun because you had to look and search for yourself to see the drawings. I just put up a few more photos in my photo gallery, if you'd like to see more....
