Since the weather was nice yesterday, we had our fireworks (Chris took these photos)! These were the Halloween fireworks that had to be postponed because the weather was too nasty that night. Much of the fundraising that happens all year long pays for this show, which is put on by our volunteer fire department. I heard they spent $4000 this year on the fireworks. The show is as good as any I've ever seen on the 4th, except that only about 150 people saw ours, and we are all very close to them, which made it extra loud and bright. Each BOOM echoed dozens of times around the hills nearby, and that was seriously amazing. They made a bit of a roaring sound, actually. All of us from the house went down to watch on the boardwalk near where they were shooting the fireworks off, from the dock. People brought their drinks and smokes. We lined up to watch:


The inlet runs north-south through town, so we have "the East Side" and "the West Side". That's always partly how you explain where you live (I live on the west side). The beginning of the fireworks was signified by one of the firemen yelling across the water: "Are you ready on the East Side!?!" Cheers, yells, whistles from the East Side spectators. Then: "Are you ready on the West Side!?!" Cheers, yells, whistles from us. Fireworks is like a sport here, with people cheering for the good parts and congratulating the firemen on their good work.

It was a great show, and lots of fun. What a great unique small town thing. It's so funny, in a way, but awesome. Go November 3!
