Hello there! So much has happened since I last wrote! First and foremost is that I got a part-time job! Yeah! I was hired by Chris, the other grad student here, to be his lab assistant. I'm quite over-qualified, but he needed help and I needed something to do, as well to earn a little money! This week I have conducted an experiment on whelks in the lab. It's fun. So I'm planning on working a bit for him for the next few months, which will earn me a little money, as well as a work visa, which is nice. Additionally, I work just down the hall from Spencer, which is funny. We boatpool to work everyday.

Today we were supposed to go into Port Alberni, but couldn't. There was a pretty decent storm last night that dumped snow on the mountains between here and there, so we were convinced not to go. It's a bit of a bummer, too, because we really need some groceries! Anyhow, it sounded like the road was pretty bad off. A bus went from here last night with some high school students, and they ended up getting stuck sideways on the road and having to return here, to ride the boat out to Port Alberni today instead. What a sucky trip. We're planning on going to town next week instead. The wind also started to blow really hard last night. Spencer and I had dinner, then took a shower, and when he was finishing up in the bathroom, I was in the bedroom and it was soooo windy outside! I thought, I should light a candle, so I did. And about 30 seconds after I did that, the power went out. I had to go rescue Spencer from the dark in the bathroom.... We were glad to have finished our showers, though we had planned to run the dishwasher after that, and that wasn't able to happen. Oops. So I'll be updating the count here soon, but I don't know if it's on yet or not. I'm at the marine station (working!), so there is generator power here and I don't know what's going on in the rest of the town right now.

I had a great achievement yesterday. Chris asked me to film barnacles having sex, and I got a great video of it! It was very lucky, because I had lights and a microscope set up just so, and the barnacles right in that view were ready! I spent about two hours watching them, and then it all just worked out (the magic happened, so they say on MTV Cribs).

Spencer just stopped in here, and said that he thinks the power is back on, and hell yeah I should update the count!

Anyways, I'm now a barnacle pornographic filmmaker. Go me. Maybe I'll get that film posted somewhere and you all can see it sometime.
